What Is Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business or person rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.
Essentially you sign up as an affiliate and when someone clicks on your link and makes a purchase, you make money. In addition, someone may click on the link (pay per click) and you make money for each click or if you happen to get a ton of page views and qualify for Mediavine, then you are paid based on the advertisement simply showing up on your page.
Thousands of companies worldwide use affiliate marketing to boost their sales along with minimizing advertising costs. Think about the last good movie you saw or the last good restaurant that you ate at. Chances are you told a friend about the movie and you told a friend about the food. Now imagine if AMC or your favorite restaurant paid you a fee every time you told someone and or every time someone used your special link (affiliate link) and clicked on the link and made a purchase, you earned money. That is all affiliate marketing is.
Take a moment and watch the Youtube video below, clearly, that is not my face or voice, he does give a great overview of affiliate marketing. Make sure you subscribe to his channel as well.
Why Should Affiliate Marketing Matter To Bloggers
Affiliate marketing is one of the main ways that bloggers generate income on their sites. Affiliate marketing is a key component of many blog sites. If you are blogging to earn money then chances are you will need some aspect of affiliate marketing. No affiliates equate to no money, no dineros, χρήματα, fedha or argent. Having a solid lineup of affiliates that enhance your blog is key.
Think of it this way, if you are blogging about Weight loss- you probably don’t want to have affiliate links to tons of restaurants, or maybe you do. However, you may want to have an affiliate link with Weight Watchers or even Samsung Earbuds that track weight loss or an app for weight loss or even an affiliate that pays for weight loss such as Healthy Wage. Is this starting to make sense?
Since I mentioned Healthy Wage – Let’s converse about them for a minute. Everyone is looking to get healthy and everyone wants extra coins. When you combine the two together you get Healthy Wage. Click on this affiliate link and think about what you see. Healthy Wage. I write blog posts that are inclusive of my various affiliate sponsors without throwing them in your face.
If you are considering starting a blog site, then you will want to add ShareASale as an affiliate.
- ShareASale is an affiliate link program that in essence is your gateway to other affiliate links. You use ShareASale to gain access to other companies that offer affiliate link programs. Thus you don’t have to search thousands of companies to see if they offer an affiliate link program.
Find a sponsor for your web site. Get paid for your great content. That is what ShareASale helps you to achieve.
This is just a small sampling of affiliate links, but it should give you a good idea of how affiliate links work. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact me at support@bragdifferently.com
