Elevate your well-being with these lifestyle changes for a healthier and happier you.
The start of a new year is a natural time for many people to reflect on the past year and consider making changes to improve their lives. It’s all too common for people to set resolutions or goals for the new year, with the intention of creating positive habits and making lasting changes. Trust and believe that I’ve created a list of changes I want as well. While it’s important to have the motivation and drive to make changes, it’s also important to be realistic and patient with yourself.
Making lasting lifestyle changes takes time and effort, and it’s important to focus on making small, sustainable changes rather than trying to overhaul your entire life at once. It’s also important to remember that it’s never too late to make positive changes in your life, and you can hit the reset button at any time. You don’t have to start at the new year, but I figured now is a great time to get started. The most important thing is to have the motivation and commitment to make the changes that will improve your well-being and help you live the life you want.

Lifestyle changes can help you live a healthier, more fulfilling, and more meaningful life. They can also help you overcome obstacles and achieve your goals more easily. By making lifestyle changes, you can take control of your health and well-being and create the life you want. So, it’s important to make lifestyle changes in order to live a healthier and happier life.
Let’s just dive right in and get started. Here are my top seven lifestyle changes that you have to make in general.
Let Go Of Perfection
As women, we think that everything has to be perfect. We want the perfect body, perfect hair, perfect mate, perfect life, perfect job and so much more. I’m here to tell you the pursuit of perfection can be exhausting and often leads to feelings of inadequacy or disappointment. It’s important to remember that nobody is perfect and that it’s okay to make mistakes. Instead of striving for perfection, try to focus on doing your best and being kind to yourself when things don’t go as planned. Celebrate the small wins. It’s also important to set realistic goals for yourself and to recognize that progress and growth often come through trial and error. By letting go of the need to be perfect, you can live a more relaxed and fulfilling life.
Learn To Keep Your Mouth Shut – Shut-Up
We have so much that we need to say, however in the age of social media where all it takes is one screenshot to cancel you out, it is important this year to take a moment to think before you write or speak. It’s easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and let your emotions take over and before you know it, you say or write things that you later regret. By taking a moment to pause and think before you communicate, you can avoid saying or writing things that may be hurtful or harmful to others. It is so easy to post or send something without fully considering the consequences. By thinking before you write or speak, you can improve your relationships with others and avoid unnecessary conflicts. It’s also important to remember that sometimes it’s okay to keep your mouth shut or to choose not to share something that may cause harm. My mother would have simply said SHUT-UP!
Letting Go Of Past Mistakes
One important lifestyle change you may want to consider making this year is learning to move beyond your mistakes. We all make mistakes and it’s natural to feel upset or disappointed when things don’t go as planned. However, dwelling on your mistakes or beating yourself up about them can hold you back and prevent you from moving forward. Instead, try to learn from your mistakes and use them as opportunities for growth and self-improvement. When you make a mistake, take a moment to reflect on what you could have done differently and make a plan to avoid making the same mistake in the future. Remember that everyone makes mistakes and it’s okay to ask for help or support when you need it. By learning to let go of your mistakes and move forward, you can live a more positive and productive life.
Eat Breakfast
This one should be a no-brainer, but eating breakfast is a simple but important lifestyle change to consider making this year. Breakfast is often referred to as the “most important meal of the day” because it provides your body with the energy it needs to start the day off right. When you skip breakfast, you may find yourself feeling sluggish or hungry later in the morning, which can affect your productivity and overall well-being.
There are many healthy breakfast options to choose from, such as whole grain cereals, oatmeal, eggs, fruit, and yogurt. It’s important to choose foods that are high in nutrients and fiber to keep you feeling satisfied and energized. If you don’t have time to sit down and eat a full breakfast, consider preparing a grab-and-go option, such as a smoothie or breakfast sandwich, to take with you on the go. By making time for breakfast, you can set yourself up for a healthy and productive day.
Carry Health Snacks
As a real estate broker who is often on the go, I learned this lesson early on. Carrying healthy snacks can be a game changer if you are also looking to shed a few extra pounds. It’s a powerful and subtle lifestyle change to consider making this year. When you have healthy snacks on hand, you can avoid the temptation to turn to unhealthy options when you get hungry between meals. This is especially important when you are on the go or don’t have access to healthy meal options.
Some healthy snack ideas include:
- Fruits and vegetables, such as apples, carrots, and berries
- Nuts and seeds, such as almonds and sunflower seeds
- Whole grain crackers or rice cakes with hummus or avocado spread
- Greek yogurt or cottage cheese
- Hard-boiled eggs
- Edamame
- Air-popped popcorn
Take the time to talk with your nutritionist and find out what are the best options for you. This can help you maintain a healthy diet and avoid the energy crashes that can come from eating unhealthy snacks.
Smile More
I am definitely practicing this one more this year, even if I smile with my mouth closed. If you stop while you are reading this and smile, you automatically feel better. It’s almost impossible to be mad and smile at the same time. Smiling more is a simple but powerful lifestyle change to consider making this year. This is by far one of the easiest and most impactful things that you can do. Smiling has many benefits, both for ourselves and for those around us. When we smile, we can:
It’s important to note that smiling doesn’t have to be forced or fake. A genuine smile is more effective and has more benefits than a forced one. By making an effort to smile more, you can improve your own mood and well-being, as well as the mood and well-being of those around you.
- Boost our mood: Smiling activates the release of endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers and mood elevators.
- Reduce stress: Smiling can help relax the body and lower levels of stress hormones.
- Improve our relationships: Smiling is contagious and can help foster positive interactions with others.
- Make us more attractive: Smiling can make us appear more approachable and attractive to others.
- Boost our immune system: Smiling can increase the production of antibodies in the body, which can help protect us from illness.
Practice Gratitude
If you woke up today and you are reading this then you have a million reasons to be grateful. I think one of the reasons that my life is so stress-free and favored is that I am grateful every single day for the little things. Practicing gratitude requires a mindset shift. It isn’t just about saying you are grateful, you need to show through your actions that you are grateful.
Gratitude is the practice of focusing on the things that we are grateful for, rather than dwelling on the things that are causing us stress or dissatisfaction. When we practice gratitude, we can:
- Improve our mental health: Gratitude can help reduce negative emotions, such as envy and resentment, and increase feelings of happiness and contentment.
- Strengthen our relationships: Expressing gratitude towards others can strengthen our bonds and improve our relationships.
- Increase our resilience: Gratitude can help us cope with difficult situations and challenges, as it allows us to focus on the positive aspects of our lives.
- Improve our physical health: Studies have shown that gratitude can have a positive impact on physical health, such as improving sleep and reducing symptoms of illness.
There are many ways to practice gratitude, such as keeping a gratitude journal, expressing gratitude to others, or simply taking a moment to reflect on the things that you are grateful for. By making gratitude a part of your daily routine, you can improve your overall well-being and happiness.
