Let me tell you how I made over $2,000 in my first 30 days of blogging. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I’ve been an Entreprenegro since the age of 6. I’m simply drawn to finding ways to create income without being tied to a cubicle and or a traditional 9 to 5.
I’ve always generated income from various online ventures, MLM, FB groups, providing resources, real estate, sharing links, doing surveys and misc other things. The key is to simply try something. I like to keep my hands in various pots as I am a die-hard believer of having 7 streams of income.
In between being a phenomenal Real Estate Broker/Realtor, I am a serial entrepreneur. I honestly have a passion for building businesses and helping others to achieve their goals.
The bottom line was that I had thousands of people telling me that they follow me on social media for real estate. I post often in the Dream Catchers FB Group. I had an aha moment where I knew that I needed to find another way to connect and share info with the masses. It’s simply impossible to respond to every post that you are tagged in. Blogging simply made more sense than doing a traditional website.
My purpose for blogging wasn’t just to make income, but by default, if you are going to blog then you may want to monetize it. And seeing as how I still have a mortgage on my home, student loans, and car notes, I figured I might need to generate income. (as-a-side note- I was motivated by a few bloggers pulling in excess $100,000 per month) Jennifer Maker did $100k for March 2019. Michelle over at Making Sense of Cents is a blogging Diva, pulling in excess of 100k monthly based on making $1,500,000 in 2018 Nothing like a little friendly competition to get you motivated.
In my first month or rather my first few days of blogging (02/22/19 through 02/28/19) I earned $444 respectively. I knew at that point I had hit the proverbial jackpot and I was on to something sweet. I simply proved that what you put into the universe and claim can manifest itself into reality.
Keeping in mind that my blog site was not 100% complete. ( I still have a few categories that I need to write content for)
If you are serious about blogging and want to start your own blog site, you need to sign-up for Blue Host. I can not stress this enough. You can also use SiteGround. Most bloggers are either using Blue Host or SiteGround. I will be doing a review on both in the near future. Everything starts with selecting your host. I know that you don’t have a niche for your blog site; however, creating your hosting acct will jumpstart your journey.
Once you decide on hosting, you have to choose a theme for your blogsite. I use 17th Ave Designs
as I found a template that worked for me.
Traffic Jam Breakdown
We really can’t crunch numbers yet because my blog did not have a ton of traffic per se (only 3000 total views through 4/1/2019) vs. me sharing blog articles from my site on FB. In one instance, I wrote an article on Black Bloggers You Need To Bookmark, which increased my traffic footprint exponentially. In order to understand how I made money, you have to understand my methodology. It also helps to know how many people visited my blog.
My most popular posts in Feb/March 2019:
- How Do Investments Make Money | 9 Facebook Shares – I posted this article directly to FB numerous times.
- Black Bloggers, You Need To Bookmark | 88 Facebook Shares- I’m sure these shares came from the bloggers I featured.
I had a total of 3000 page views since 02/22/2019.
The majority of this came from individuals sharing on Facebook & Pinterest
Blog Income Breakdown
As of April 1, 2019 $2242
Let’s take a peek
- Ellevest: $2,049 The main aspect of my blog site is empowering women to take action when it comes to their finances, The Melanin Goddess is on a quest to assist 5000+ melanin women to obtain and fund investment accts one deposit at a time. It could be $1 or it could be $1000. As a real estate broker, I often encounter women that are in the very beginning stages of home buying which may include establishing a savings goal for homeownership. We’re excited to be working with Ellevest to start this conversation about women and money. We will receive compensation if you become an Ellevest client.*
- Bluehost: $65| This is the company that I utilize to host my blog. So far the customer service has been excellent. Everything that I’ve done or needed to do has been accomplished via chat. They offer chat support 24/7. Blue Host appears to be one of the top referral link affiliates for most bloggers that are monetizing their blogs. Make sure you check them out.
- Blogging Review/Pinterest Pins, WordPress assistance: $125. Yes, I charge a fee to review, assist etc, blog sites and Pinterest. I had 3 clients, but only one paid client. 2 were freebies. I was able to grow my Pinterest page views to over 18k in a matter of days. I’m not saying I know everything, but I know enough to be dangerous. Though I just launched my blog I am not new to the business.
- Airbnb: $0 Everyone in Atlanta has turned their home into Airbnb. Including myself. Make sure you get yourself an Airbnb Affiliate link. We all know someone that is traveling, has traveled, will travel and will use Airbnb. I haven’t made any money yet, but I also need to increase my blog posts on travel.
- Awin: $0 I just joined this affiliate network and I’m looking forward to seeing how it will help me to grow my revenue stream. There is a $5 charge to join, however, it will be credited back to you after you make some money. It’s a no-brainer- sign up, get your affiliate link approved and you will earn $30 per referral once they earn their first commission.
- CityPass: $0| Citypass is a great affiliate that I just signed up with. While I was writing this blog post, I shared the affiliate link on my FB page as it’s spring break this week in Metro Atlanta. We shall see how the link does over the next hour.
Sweet! I think I did ok for 30 days in. Imagine what is about to take place when all my affiliates are in place and all my blog posts are popping. I think I’ll get to $100,000 a month quickly.
Achievements
- Social Media Growth | You will learn to love social media. I don’t have updated figures as I initially didn’t track the numbers, but next month I’m on it.
- Resources Page | Every blogger should have a resource page on their blog site. Remember sharing is caring. We learn so much from other bloggers. Give credit where credit is due. (coming soon)
- Email List Growth | I will have a Secret Garden where I offer tidbits, freebies, etc for those that sign up for my email list. It’s a great incentive and a creative way to grow your email list. The garden will contain freebies such as blogging printables, worksheets, lists of the best Pinterest group boards, and a little black girl magic.
