01: Create An Etsy Store
One of the quickest and easiest ways to generate passive income is to open an Etsy Store. I’m passionate about showing other women how to create passive income via Etsy. I currently have 4 active stores on Etsy. My BlackGirlMagic Co Store has earned over $5000 + in the last 12 months. That is not bad considering that I’ve never had to ship a single item out.
You can start an Etsy store for twenty cents. This is not a typo. Etsy charges .20 cents to list an item. Connect your Etsy store to a Print On Demand Application like Printful and you are ready to sell items.
02: Create An Online Course
Creating a course is an excellent way to earn passive income online. All you need is a topic you are passionate about and that is both useful and profitable. Then, you can sell your course through a platform like ThriveCart, Teachable, Podaia, Udemy, or Gumroad.
Identify a need and provide a solution. Don’t overthink the process. I can be a small course or even an email course where you send out the content of the course via emails.
I currently host my courses on ThriveCart. I absolutely love this passive income idea. Check out my courses at Courses.
03: Create A Membership Site
Make sure that you select a theme that you can grow with. Most free themes do not come with support or updates. Research your competition and see what themes they are using. You want a theme that you can tweak and personalize the look so that you don’t end up with a cookie-cutter feel. Also, understand that choosing the wrong theme could result in your site loading slowly or not transitioning when someone is viewing the site on their mobile device.
There are several different well-known themes to choose from. I use 17th Ave Designs which is built on the Genesis Parent Theme. Other well-known theme builders include Astra, and Elementor.
04: Launch A YouTube Channel
If your blog is your house, then think of your plugins as your accessories. Plugins are essential. There are going to be plugins that you will need to install in order for your theme to work ( these are normally pre-installed) or you get directions on installing them when you are installing your theme to WordPress.
Here is my list of must-have plugins:
05: Affiliate Marketing
One of the most overlooked tools that you need to have from day one is a mailing list. Your mailing list is money in the bank and you own your mailing list. Having a mailing list allows you to have direct contact with your readers.
I use ConvertKit and it is amazing.
06: Sell Print On Demand
Create and sell print-on-demand products: Print-on-demand platforms like Printful allow you to create and sell custom products, like t-shirts or mugs, without having to hold any inventory.
You can set up your free Print On Demand Account With Printful Right Here.
Here are a few reasons why you should start a print-on-demand store.
- They allow anyone to create and sell customized products without having to invest in inventory or production upfront. This makes it easy for individuals and small businesses to get started selling physical products.
- They handle all aspects of production, fulfillment, and shipping, which means that sellers don’t have to worry about setting up their own production and fulfillment processes.
- They offer a wide range of products that can be customized, including t-shirts, mugs, phone cases, and more, which gives sellers a lot of options for creating unique and interesting products.
- You don’t have to be a designer, you can purchase POD graphics on sites like Creative Fabrica to use on your store.
07: Sell Digital Products
Sell digital products: Digital products, like ebooks or printables, can be created once and sold multiple times. You can sell them through platforms like Etsy or on your own website. This is by far my favorite along with selling courses. You keep more of your money because you are selling a product that is either a PDF, A link inside a PDF that links to a Canva Template, or files for the end user to download.
Here is a digital product that I sell. It’s called the Social Content Calendar
You could also sell Canva templates such as Pinterest pins like the ones featured below.
08: Become A Blogger
In the vast realm of passive income opportunities, blogging stands out as both an art and a business. Starting a blog about a topic you’re passionate about can not only be a fulfilling creative outlet but also a significant revenue generator. As traffic grows, bloggers can monetize their platforms through methods like affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, and ad placements.
While the initial phase requires consistent content creation and promotion, over time, well-crafted articles can continue to attract readers and revenue long after they’re published. With dedication, a blog can evolve from a hobby into a sustainable income stream, all while allowing the blogger to share their voice with the world
09: Rent Out A Room In Your Home
In the age of the sharing economy, one of the most straightforward ways to generate passive income is right under your roof. Renting out a spare room in your home, whether through platforms like Airbnb or to long-term tenants, can be a lucrative venture. Not only does it provide a steady stream of income, but it also allows homeowners to capitalize on unused space. While there are responsibilities like maintenance and ensuring a pleasant experience for your guests or tenants, the financial benefits often outweigh the effort. Plus, it’s an opportunity to meet diverse individuals from various walks of life, turning your home into a melting pot of cultures and experiences.
10: Amazon KDP- Create Low Content Books
One of the most intriguing avenues for generating passive income in today’s digital age is through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform. While many associate KDP with traditional e-books or novels, there’s a burgeoning market for low-content books. These are essentially books with minimal written content, such as journals, planners, coloring books, and notebooks. The beauty of this approach is that once the design is created, you can continuously earn from it without the need for constant updates.
Here’s a list of low content book ideas that you can consider publishing on Amazon KDP:
- Journals
- Gratitude journals
- Dream journals
- Travel journals
- Daily reflection journals
- Planners
- Weekly and monthly planners
- Meal planners
- Fitness and workout planners
- Budget and finance planners
- Wedding planners
- Activity Books
- Coloring books for adults and children
- Sudoku, crossword, and puzzle books
- Dot-to-dot books
- Maze books
